If you’re keen to take your first step towards becoming a qualified mortgage adviser, the Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP®) could be the ideal qualification for you. Accredited by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority and recognised by the Financial Conduct Authority, it’s widely regarded as the industry benchmark. Given its prestige, it’s no surprise that 80% of mortgage advisers hold this qualification.
By attaining CeMAP®, you stand to give your knowledge and skills a major boost, and you can significantly improve your career prospects. In addition, you can open up further opportunities for professional development.
Who is the CeMAP qualification for?
Our CeMAP® training courses are intended for people who are new to the mortgage industry. You don’t need to have any background in this field in order to successfully study and complete our programmes.
What can you expect from a CeMAP course?
Employers from across the sector have had an input into the development of the qualification, ensuring that the content is adapted and relevant to the needs of the industry. CeMAP® comprises a total of seven mandatory units that are studied and assessed in three modules. Module 1 covers a range of issues, including tax, investments, pensions, savings and mortgages. It also focuses on financial regulation, covering everything from data protection to money laundering.
Module 2 looks at mortgage law, policy, practice and markets, mortgage applications, mortgage payment methods and products, mortgage arrears and post-completion issues. Lastly, Module 3 is an assessment of mortgage advice and knowledge. Because the second and third modules cover the same subjects, they are usually studied and assessed at the same time.
How is CeMAP assessed?
All CeMAP® assessments are multiple choice, but unlike the others, Module 3 involves answering questions on case studies. You can sit the tests at computers in over 150 centres throughout the country. When you feel ready to take the exams, simply book a time and venue that suits you. The assessments last for two hours and you will get your results before you leave the test centre.
