Increase your employability in the mortgage sector
31 January 2017

The CMAcert programme has been withdrawn and is no longer open to new enrolments.
January is considered the best month of the year to find a new job. It’s the start of a new year, a chance to make a positive change in your life, and possibly the motivation you need to help find your dream job role. The only problem is, while you are having this epiphany to change career and look towards a bright future in a fantastic new role, so are millions of other people. So how are you going to make sure you stand out from the crowd?
When applying for a job, candidates should remember to ensure they have the relevant knowledge and skills required by the employer. No matter what job role you are looking for, having the right qualifications for the job will always put you ahead of those unqualified candidates, particularly when looking for roles in the financial industry.
Being qualified is vital to ensure you have a sound understanding of financial regulations and procedures, giving both employers and clients peace of mind when you are advising. Having the regulatory qualification to advise will hold you in great stead when applying for positions, but always remember to look ahead and see if there is anything else you can do to put yourself at the forefront, as there is always room to further your skillset to put yourself ahead of the rest.
While completing your CeMAP qualification or equivalent teaches you the regulatory side of the mortgage adviser role, the CMAcert will help you gain useful skills and understanding of the practical side of the job, meaning you can start your new role with the additional knowledge of the day-to-day practices. The Competent Mortgage Adviser Certificate (CMAcert) will help you learn how to deal with the practical aspects of being a mortgage adviser, giving you vital skills which are transferable into real life scenarios and will go some way towards helping you obtain your Competent Adviser Status (CAS) sign off.
From an employer’s standpoint, having to spend less time training someone into a role is highly appealing, and having a candidate who can get straight into the working aspects of the job and potentially obtain their CAS sign off in a shorter time frame will set them above the rest.
Take the first step towards becoming a Mortgage Adviser by booking your CeMAP course online. You can also contact our expert Student Support team for help with queries or study planning by email at [email protected] or on Freephone 0808 208 0002.
